Not only supplies the sponge obtained from the fibers of the fruit, but also a homoeopathic remedy Luffa D 3 nose drops used for inflammations of the mucosa, rhinitis with formation of crusts and a dry, easily bleeding mucosa, for dry and slimy nose and pharynx catarrh, ozeana, and as an assistance in the treatment of pyogenic inflammations of the nose and paranasal sinus.

Uses
Fruit: Employed as a laxative and also used in the treatment of leprosy.

Origin

Cultivated throughout greater parts of India.

Action:

Plant—used against pharyngitis, rhinitis, mastitis, oedema, swellings and burns.

Leaves— used for chronic bronchitis. Leaf juice is given for amenorrhoea.

Flowers—used for treating migraine. Seeds—alcoholic extract exhibited 9,80% fungitoxic activity.
